About Fred Drake

Family Man

Fred

Fred is married to one of the best women a husband could ask for, and has a beautiful daughter (if you look at my photo gallery, I apologize for the near monopoly of photographs of our child).  Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, he now lives across the state in Kansas City.  When not partaking in any of the other activities listed below, he spends his time playing the occasional video game and chasing his little girl all over the house.

Tech Fanatic

From a young age Fred has been involved in technical gadgets, starting with his sixth birthday.  Armed with only a Commodore 64 and a cassette tape drive, he quickly enjoyed the art and science of software programming.  Throughout his youth he was also heavily involved with bulletin board systems in the St. Louis area including the system operation of The Billiken Central BBS while enrolled as a computer science student at Saint Louis University.

Today, he writes software in almost every modern language available ranging from Java to .NET to PHP, while hacking or taking apart any gadget that he can (or his wife will let him) afford!  This includes video game systems, cell phones, and other multimedia tech devices.  If he can ever find enough spare moments again, he will resume construction of his second MAME arcade.

Sports Fanatic

Fred is also a fan of most sports, both domestic and abroad.  Hailing from the St. Louis metro area, he is the biggest fan of St. Louis area sports such as the Missouri Tigers, Saint Louis University Billikens, Blues, Rams, and (above all) St. Louis Cardinals baseball.  Being a life-long fan of the Cardinals, he has experienced the highs and lows of each season and each decade.  The greatest moment of his life as a Cardinal fan was being at the game in which Mark McGwire broke Roger Maris’ record for home runs in a season on September 8, 1998, and the worst moment was Game 6 of the 1985 World Series when umpire Don Denkinger broke a 9-year-old’s heart that night with one of the most infamous calls in professional sports on a national stage.
